8 year old wins a tournament game in "Blue Ribbon" division

Hello All
   As you know, it is and has been my goal to add females and young people to the list of checker players in the A.P.C.A., and this year we got started.
   We had a young adult female (Vira Klots) and also an 8 year old male (Darii Shcherbatyuk) from Ukraine to participate in the “Blue Ribbon” Division.
These two new players surprised many of us by winning some tournament games from our long time checker players.
I want to congratulate and praise all of our players for your efforts in this tournament and especially these two new players for your success in the blue ribbon division.
Vira won 3 games and Darii won 1 game.
This may very well be the start of something new since the D. C. Club already has a female player and our 2023 “Masters Champion” is already working with some young people in Miami.
   I want to appeal to all of our Players to encourage your youth whether male or female to learn this great game and join us in Chicago for the 2024 tournament.
